Evaluations
Assessments of the language skills of officers are an important part of an
ongoing training program.
Oral
and/or written evaluations can be conducted with the intent of evaluating an
officers ability to communicate effectively in Spanish. Evaluations are tailored
to the appropriate skill level and use role playing to determine the officers
ability to function effectively in a variety of law enforcement situations. Evaluations
can vary from "first responder" to fully "bi-lingual". The
emphasis is placed on ability to communicate rather than whether the officer has
memorized verb conjugations and vocabulary.
